Writing copy that converts is imperative for having successful ads.
It is the reason people choose to take action or keep on scrolling.
Itâs not always easy to know what to put into your ad copy but with these tips, youâll find the sweet spot that will help you write copy that yields the results youâre after!
Seven Ad Copy Tips:
- Be you. Your copy needs to match your brand voice and the message youâre conveying throughout your funnel. This seems obvious but it is important to remember when you begin writing your copy. Do you typically write in a conversational tone, as an authoritative figure, or with humor? Knowing your brand voice and conveying it powerfully is the cornerstone to attracting the dream leads that everyone is after.
- Peak Curiosity. The goal of ad copy is to peak curiosity and get the audience to read the next sentence. And the next. And the next. All the way to the end, where they are compelled to take the next step! But remember, you donât need to sell them on every detail in the ad. The purpose is to get them interested enough to take the next step, such as click over to your landing page where you share the details theyâre dying to know.
- Social Proof. Donât underestimate the power of using testimonials in your ads. People love social proof, as itâs âproofâ that others have gotten results from your work and gives them hope that they can do the same! Youâll also want to aggregate social proof, such as likes, comments, shares, etc. on your ads whenever possible for the same reason!
- Hook âem! Test different hooks, or open lines of your ad copy. For testing, you can run multiple ads, each using a different hook, and see which performs best with your audience. In your hook, you can talk about the customer pain point, the transformation they desire, or a polarizing stance about your industry norms. This is what gets people to click âSee Moreâ and keep reading.
- Less is more. If you can say what you need to say in one sentence, do it! (Okay, maybe 5-7 sentences is more realistic.đ) There is always a time and place for long ad copy, but most people want you to get to the point already!
- Have a single call-to-action. Be very clear about the one action you want your audience to take. If confusion sets in, theyâll scroll away.
- If you are feeling stuck on how to begin, look at some of the ads youâve personally clicked on. Why did you feel compelled to click? What about the ad was appealing to you? Do a mini case study on yourself. Get inspired by other ads but donât copy — thatâs not cool.
Remember, people donât go on social media to buy things or engage with ads, which is why you have to capture their attention. The image may stop the scroll but the caption is what will cause them to take action.
If this still feels like something youâd like off your plate, Iâm happy to write those captions and run your Facebook ads for you! I have my finger on the pulse of Facebook ads and know what is working at any given time (trust me, itâs always changing!).
